Deservedly the most popular bar in Belfast. The main bar in the UK claimed by the National Trust, its recorded, resplendent inside was made by Italian specialists in Belfast’s Victorian prime and has included in motion pictures as divergent as Odd Man Out in 1947 and Divorcing Jack in 1998. On any given evening, there can be couple of more prominent joys in the city than subsiding into one of the antiquated snugs, complete with ringers to summon the staff and gunmetal match-striking plates, and tucking into Irish stew, colcannon or Strangford clams, washed around a rich 16 ounces or two of Guinness. A welcome late expansion is a huge and developing choice of genuine beers. A recommendation would be to arrive before the actual arranged time to claim a spot in one of the old snugs.
